Apologetics - a defense of the LDS Faith
The word “apologetics” derives from the Greek word apologia, which was originally used as a speech of defense. This section of the site I have references to a variety of different questions and responses. The purpose of Apologetic discourse is not to convert an individual, but rather to show using reason, logic, and common sense that what we believe has merit, is not the deranged traditions of our fathers, that we are not brainwashed or under any other delusion. We have thought things through and have a valid reason for believing the way that we do. In ancient Athens it referred to a defense made in the courtroom as part of the normal judicial procedure. After the accusation, the defendant was allowed to refute the charges with a defense (apologia).
